TUSHPA

Nestled in the village of Taperakan, at the heart of the Ararat Valley, Tushpa is a family-run winery established in 1992 by winemaker Mihran Manasserian. Located just 30 km west of Yerevan, near the renowned Khor Virap Monastery, the estate carries on a rich winemaking tradition passed down through generations. The identity of Tushpa is built on a deep respect for ancestral techniques, which have long defined the excellence of Armenian wines. Among these methods is spontaneous fermentation, a natural process that enhances the depth and complexity of their red wines. By staying true to authentic vinification, Tushpa preserves the essence of Armenia’s unique terroir while elevating its indigenous grape varieties.

Located at 800 meters above sea level, Tushpa enjoys a climate well-suited for viticulture, with temperatures ranging between 12°C and 30°C during harvest season. The soil, composed mainly of clay and sedimentary rock, imparts a distinct minerality to the grapes, enhancing their natural expression. The estate spans 6 hectares of vineyards, home to the Haghtanak, Kangun, and Muscat grape varieties. These grapes, adapted to the specific climatic conditions of the Ararat Valley, produce wines that are rich, balanced, and full of character. At Tushpa, each wine is a tribute to the Armenian terroir. The winery is dedicated to showcasing the distinct qualities of its natural environment, ensuring that every vintage carries a unique identity. Preserving and sharing these exceptional characteristics is Tushpa’s core mission, allowing its winemaking heritage to continue inspiring wine enthusiasts in Armenia and beyond.
